Ruth Priscilla Kirstein’s doctoral dissertation in Medical History and Ethics investigates the making of the neuropsychiatrist Alfred Erich Hoche (1865-1943), who has been accused of having laid the intellectual groundwork for later German euthanasia during World War II.

Conversations of December 14, 2022, and March 29, 2023, about findings on risks, prevention and communication of toxic exposures on the local, state and federal levels, within the context of the years-long dismantling of a large municipal jail in a densely populated area. Demolition work began in March 2022 as part of New York City’s Borough-Based Jails Program (BBJ).
